The USS Milwaukee , a US littoral combat ship , has paused its voyage to South America and will stay in the port of the Guantanamo Bay Naval Station due to a coronavirus outbreak, as reported by the Navy.
The ship docked at the site for a scheduled visit, after than on 15 departed from Mayport, Florida, to the Southern Command region.
Through a statement, the Navy reported that the crew is “100% immunized ”, and that those tested positive have been placed in isolation on the ship, although it was not revealed how many there are.
The ship has more of 100 crew .
Official data add that a “portion” of the affected people presented mild symptoms , although it is not known which variant affected them.
“The ship is following an aggressive mitigation strategy in accordance with the Navy and CDC guidelines ”, stated the Navy.
It should be remembered that early last year there was a major outbreak of the virus on another ship, the USS Theodore Roosevelt , which operated in the Pacific Ocean, which remained for almost two months in Guam, then more than 1, 000 of the 4, 800 crew members contracted the virus.

Navy data show that more than 98% of all active seafarers have received a complete vaccination schedule .
