Millions to ease port congestion and help the supply chain

As part of a short-term plan established by the government of President Biden to alleviate the congestion in the supply chain , the Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg , announced that more than $ 241 millions in grants to improve ports , which includes measures on the subject of infrastructure, in order to streamline the flow of goods .

“US seaports play a crucial role in our supply chains. These investments in our nation’s ports will help support American jobs, efficient and resilient operations, and faster delivery of goods to the American people, ”stated Buttigieg.

This is money that will be available immediately for 25 projects to be carried out in 19 state.

Next year, almost double the amount will go – $ 450 million dollars — in grants for five years, according to the new infrastructure .

Meanwhile, President Biden said that subsidies are part of the effort to alleviate supply bottlenecks, in the short and long term .

“This fall we heard many grim warnings about supply chain problems that would lead to a crisis around the holidays, so we act. We brought together companies and union leaders to solve problems, and the anticipated crisis did not happen.
