Mexican coaches Roberto Hernández and Roberto Montoya meet in the semifinal of the Apertura tournament 2021 of Guatemalan soccer. Hernández directs Malacateco and Montoya to Antigua.
Antigua part as a favorite in this key. With Montoya on the bench, the colonialists won the qualifying stage and in the quarterfinals they left the Sololá team out, with an aggregate score of 6-1.
Their rival, the Malacateco de Hernández was the host in the first leg this Wednesday at his stadium, Santa Lucía, in the department of San Marcos, located in the southwest of Guatemala and border with Mexico.
Malacateco eliminated Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, champion of the previous edition, in the quarterfinals, with a 1-1 tie on the aggregate scoreboard, which earned them a pass to the semifinals due to their best position in the qualifying phase (fourth place, while Santa Lucía was fifth).
The first leg between Malacateco and Antigua was 2-0 in favor of the team led by Hernández at the Santa Lucía stadium.
The second leg between Antigua and Malacateco will be played on Saturday , while the other key between Comunicaciones and Municipal is scheduled to be played on Sunday.
