The latter is the new installment of the Kingsman saga that started in 2014 with “Kingsman: The Secret Service ”and continued on 2017 with“ Kingsman: The Golden Circle. ”
But instead of continuing with the adventures of the elegant British agents Eggsy and Harry – characters played by Taron Egerton and Colin Firth in the two first films and out of the comic “The Secret Service” by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons-, the new “The King’s Man” goes back decades to the beginning of the 20th century to show us the turbulent world that would give rise to the Kingsman agency .
In a real historical context, the plot plays with the possibility that the worst tyrants and criminal minds of the moment would come together to plan a world war in which millions would die and that would emerge victorious an authoritarian regime that would control the world. But a man must stop them.
“This film is definitely the origin of Kingsman” , explains Matthew Vaughn, director of the three films in the saga, with whom we were able to speak days before the premiere.
“I watched the movie ‘The Man Who Would Be King’ (1975). It is a masterpiece with Michael Caine and Sean Connery. So half jokingly, I said in my office: we should do ‘The Man Who Would be King’s Man’ ”, says the London director of 50 years on how the idea came about.
“I started thinking about making a film of this type that nobody does anymore. As a creator, as a director, what leads you to make a movie is that you can’t not make that movie. It’s that simple. I was bitten by the bug, I wrote the script with Karl and had the movie in mind. And if you are lucky enough to be able to do it, you go and do it “, says Vaughn.
And “The King’s Man” was filmed, but its premiere has been delayed until now for different reasons.

“This movie had to be different. It is about the birth of The Kingsman. And you do not give birth to a man of 18 years. You give birth to a baby, then he grows up and becomes a man. So I had to start from a very different point, ”says Vaughn.
