For Camila, this Christmas will not be so happy

For millions of people, this Christmas will not be so happy or so complete. Among those people is Mario Domm, one of the two members of the pop band Camila, because he and his wife separated, and now they live in different houses.

“In my case the change of family format, “said the singer-songwriter in a recent interview from his home in Los Angeles. “Now with the mother in one house and me in another.”

Although it is a sad situation for his environment, he recognizes that there are people who will have an even worse time because these two years of pandemic They have taken family and friends from many people in the world.

Precisely when Mario and his running mate, Pablo Hurtado , they talked about this topic with other colleagues in November, the idea of writing a Christmas song that reflected the emptiness that many will feel in these celebrations arose spontaneously.

“We got together to search songs for the new album and the idea came out of how sad not to spend Christmas like the previous one ”, he said. “Because we all have a mourning, we have all lost someone, we feel different and we wanted to talk about it.”

They began to write and in an hour and a half they already had “Christmas without you” ready. . Two weeks later it was already recorded and they had already produced the video for the song. It is, therefore, Camila’s song that has been made the fastest and has been released to the market.

“Each of us has had a personal experience to print in a song as chilling as’ Christmas without you, ‘”said the singer-songwriter. “It is not just thought, but an experience of everyone at the table, and we realized that it was possibly the experience of those who were outside as well.”

Although until now the song was released as a single, it may be part of Camila’s next album, which is already in pre-production. The tracks will start promoting at 2022 and the full album, which they have not yet decided on a name for, will be on the market in the middle of the year.

Meanwhile, the duo continues with their two international tours; On the one hand, they continue with Luz, which will reach several cities in Texas in mid-January and will continue through states such as Oklahoma, Illinois and California. And on the other hand they will give the last shows of 4 Latidos, a tour that began before the pandemic with the duo Sin Bandera and which they left unfinished due to the health crisis. In mid-February they will perform in Miami and will continue to New York, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Between all this bustle they will begin to launch the songs on the new album, which they assure, will pick up much of Camila’s roots.

“It won’t be anything far-fetched,” said Pablo. “It will have very simple elements because we do not seek to do things outside of our element, which is Camila’s essence.”
