Benjamin Mendy was charged with a seventh count of rape
French footballer Benjamin Mendy was charged with a new rape charge. The French adds eight crimes committed against five women , seven of them for rape committed against four women between October from 2020 to July 2021.
Mendy had already been accused of four cases of rape and one of sexual assault, after complaints were received from four people older than 16 years, according to judicial sources.
In August, Manchester City decided to suspend the player and also his salary . Since his indictment, the English courts have refused on three occasions to grant him parole.
Mendy, from 27 years old, is in pretrial detention in the city of Liverpool, England, from the past 27 of August. The trial will take place next January 24, where the Frenchman will declare if he pleads guilty or innocent of the charges against him.
The court must rule on a request for partial exemption of the charges previously formulated by his lawyer and has stated that his trial could last between two and three weeks after the first hearing in January .
