Vaccination in schools again

The scourge of the Omicron variant of COVID – 19 is a real danger for our children, for being so transmissible and easily contagious.

Its main source of infection is the school. For this reason, they closed for long months, and therefore, several of the more than a thousand school districts in California have made vaccination mandatory to access classes, beyond state regulations. They also impose the use of masks, social distancing, distance education and other prevention measures.

The governor has stated that school districts have the authority to impose immunization requirements for their students and faculty as a requirement for entering school .

But most school districts have been anxiously waiting for fear of legal and logistical complications from the measure.

Now, San Diego County Superior Court Judge John S. Meyer has justified his fears.

Meyer, appointed at 1992 by then-Governor, Republican Pete Wilson, decreed that the San Diego Unified School District lacks the authority to impose vaccinations, like all school systems in California. It’s something only the state can do.

It is the first time that a COVID vaccine mandate – 19 in the nation is overturned in a final ruling.

Now, the Los Unified District Angeles (LAUSD) is reviewing its options. The implementation of its own decision to impose vaccines had been postponed to January.

And between 28,000 Y 30, 000 of your students are not vaccinated. There is no time for them to be on 10 as requested by the district.

But for now they continue to enter class.

In San Diego, the lawsuit was filed on 12 of October by a parent organization, with the absurd name of Let Them Breathe. They called their school campaign Let Them Choose. Let them breathe and let them choose. The breathing part corresponds to the false claim that the use of a mask prevents, or hinders, breathing.

The group claims to represent 28, 000 families.

They are not limited to hindering vaccination but also the requirement of masks. They use means such as the violent irruption of district meetings and attacks on teachers and the governing body.

The statement of his spokesman to Meyer’s opinion was that “the union of parents in a grassroots movement to defend the rights of our children it is powerful and effective ”. It is unbearable that they talk about the rights of their children (to what), that they turn them into soldiers of the first rank of their own prejudices .

They have a devious, twisted concept of the reality in which we live. They fight for a supposed freedom that excludes the real freedom of others, which does not bother them in the least.

There is no right to infect others with a very serious disease.

But there is a right to life, to health, to study . Vaccinated children have the right to be protected from the contagion that some of their unvaccinated peers would cause.

The lawsuit filed against LAUSD by the Children Health Defense group, led by Robert Kennedy, the son of the assassinated senator of the same name, is no less upsetting. This activist has declared years ago that vaccines cause autism, without medical evidence.

Let us remember that today there are in the country two million children between 5 and 11 years with COVID – 19 . Of them 8, 300 were still recently hospitalized and more than 100 had perished from evil. Not counting complications and side effects.

The so-called hesitation movement ( hesitancy ) regarding the vaccine, before it included serious segments of our community, especially young men. Misinformation, fear, and the short time available to get vaccinated led to the low vaccination rate. The educational efforts of community organizations, the media, churches, governments, schools, etc., have largely solved the problem.

The militants who now lead this offensive against the schools are part of a group that is now composed of mostly white, Republican, Trump fanatics.

It is deplorable that we have come to criticize the parents of children when they have serious but unfounded fears, because they collect malicious information and social pressure not to get vaccinated. But there is no alternative. School-age children should be vaccinated as soon as possible, and until they are they have to study in other ways.
