Buffon in Liga MX? The mythical Italian goalkeeper does not see with bad eyes retiring in a team in Mexico

Gianluigi Buffon, one of the most important goalkeepers in history, assured that does not rule out the possibility of playing in Liga MX or in MLS before retiring.

The mythical Italian goalkeeper, world champion in 2006 , plays for Parma in Serie B in Italy and would not see with bad eyes reaching a league with a good competitive level as Liga MX has where foreign figures stand out such as the French André-Pierre Gignac and Florian Thauvin , Tigres or the Spanish Álvaro Fidalgo from the Águilas del América.

“Happy birthday dear Parma”.

In an interview with TUDN, Buffon assured that it is an experience that would like to have when asked about a possible arrival in Mexican soccer or the United States MLS League.

Throughout history, the passage of players through Liga MX has not been very common, so, and in case Buffon decides reaching a Mexican team, he would become the sixth Italian to play in Mexico after Mierko Blazina, Francesco Gallina, Carmelo D’Anzi, Marco Rossi and Pietro Maiellaro.

Not winning the Champions League keeps him as an active player

Buffon was world champion with Italy and with Juventus he won everything at the local level, however he could never conquer one of his big dreams: The UEFA Champions League.

Although he played three finals with Juventus, his team fell on all three occasions and the tournament eluded him, however Buffon confessed that not winning it keeps him motivated and that if he had won the title he would have already retired.

That moment when….

😫You left the Juve a year to try to win the Champions League with PSG and it did not happen …

😭 You returned to Juve to try to win the Champions League and they were eliminated in the second round … while PSG entered the final.

So things for Gigi Buffon 💔 pic.twitter.com/NcJVfzwOvV— Out of Play (@ESPN_FDJ) August 16, 2020

So maybe that same motivation that keeps him as an active footballer can drive him to reach Liga MX.
