California will soon require its healthcare workers to receive Covid Booster Vaccine , announced the Governor Gavin Newsom Tuesday night on social media.
Newsom said that the new mandate is in response to increasing cases of the Omicron variant of COVID – 19 you are viewing the status.
The announcement comes shortly after Sacramento County detected its first two cases of the Omicron variant, according to KCRA.
Newsom said more information would be released in an official announcement on Wednesday.

But experts say that is likely the most populous state in The nation avoid worst-case scenario – spikes in hospitalizations and deaths – because the majority of Californians have been vaccinated or already infected. That gives the state a higher level of protection against the omicron variant which, while it doesn’t guarantee that people won’t get sick, does mean they are less likely to need to go to the hospital.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lists California as a place with a “high” transmission of the coronavirus, along with almost the entire rest of the country. But in the last week, California averaged 114 new cases for every 100, 04 people, less than half the national rate.
Meanwhile, coronavirus-related hospitalizations have slowly risen in California, to 3, 852 .
That is less than half of what it was during the late summer peak driven by the delta variant and a fifth of what which was a year ago, before vaccines were widely available.
More than 70% of almost 40 Millions of state residents have been fully vaccinated, while the 42% have received a booster shot.
