The governor of Kentucky reported that all those missing in tornadoes have been accounted for

All persons reported missing in Kentucky after The tornadoes hit the state last weekend have been tallied, the governor said Saturday Andy Beshear .

Beshear praised the report from state emergency management officials, saying that hopes it means no more people would be found killed in Kentucky from the storm , according to The Associated Press

“How about some good news today?” Beshear said at the beginning of a briefing on Saturday about the recovery efforts. “Right now, the missing people due to this tornado are at zero” .

The Democratic governor said the 78 people killed in what he described as the most destructive tornado in state history were still being “a lot of Kentucky residents to lose.”

“We mourn with their families,” said Beshear.

There was some confusion about the number of deaths, Beshear explained, because his staff believed they were 78 deaths, although state emergency management officials and the state health department estimated the current count at 75.

Beshear said officials were working to resolve the discrepancy and added: “I hope they are right,” referring to health officials and handle or emergencies.

The governor reported that assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had been extended to six additional counties and that the assistance benefits provided for funeral expenses had been increased to $ 10 ,000 Dollars.

“You shouldn’t have to have a cheap funeral for your loved one,” Beshear said. “That is not right.”

In Tennessee , meanwhile, authorities have confirmed that a fifth person in that state died from the storms that struck during the same weather system.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency says the additional death occurred in Lake County, where two other storm deaths also occurred. The remaining deaths occurred in Obion and Shelby counties, the agency said.

The deaths of have been confirmed at least 92 people in various states after more than 40 tornadoes struck a large area on the 10 Y 11 from December.
