The consumption of fentanyl has become the “ leading cause of death among Americans of 18 to 45 years “, Surpassing the deaths caused by Covid, cancer and suicide .
Between 2020 and almost 79, 000 people between 18 and 50 years ( 37, 208 in 2020 Y 41,587 in 2021) died from a fentanyl overdose , as shown by analysis of data from the opioid awareness organization Families Against Fentanyl.
There have been a number of drug-related celebrity deaths involving the narcotic killer leading experts to believe that drugs purchased on the street Street like Adderall and Xanax, may be laced with fentanyl.
Actor Michael K Williams died of an apparent drug overdose in September, while Cocaine contaminated with fentanyl is believed to have killed comedians Fuquan Johnson, Enrico Colangeli and a third friend in Los Angeles.
The star The Flash’s Logan Williams passed away in April of an alleged deadly fentanyl overdose, which also claimed the lives of stars Prince and Tom Petty.
Fentanyl is believed to be 45 times more powerful than heroin and manufacturers press the drug into pills to make them look legitimate, fooling unsuspecting victims.
In September, at At least eight people on Long Island’s North Fork had overdosed on a contaminated batch of the drug, leaving six dead aged between 27 and the 40 years.
After the overdose epidemic is tragically reached a record high of 93, 331 lives in 2020, an increase in 27 percent from 2019, the Coordinator Gina Castrianni Outreach at Dynamic Youth Community, Inc. (DYC), an addiction treatment center in New York, urged Americans to be vigilant.
Noted that the 60 percent of fatal overdoses last year involved synthetic opioids and were caused primarily by the alarming rise in fentanyl medications in the United States.
“We’ve heard for so long that fentanyl mixes with all different types of substances,” Castrianni told The Sun.
“We are finding that fentanyl was zcla with Xanax, cocaine, methamphetamine, Adderall. ”
Castrianni noted that the problem has intensified in recent years.
“The problem with fentanyl being on the streets is that it is incredibly more potent than even heroin, it is 30 to 50 times more powerful ”, he explained.
“So only a small amount in the supply is enough to cause death, because even if you already have a high tolerance to heroin (or other drugs), it is possible that does not have a high tolerance to fentanyl. ”
The expert said that fentanyl began to be used to reduce heroin around 2013, because it was cheaper, ensuring that drug dealers get “more bang for their buck”.
“It has increased ex Potentially every year and it’s a big reason we’re seeing more overdoses, ”Simmons told The Sun.
“Fentanyl is found in most of the drug supply now, more than 60 percent. In places like New York, it’s even bigger. ”
