One elderly couple married during 56 years died holding hands , when his house was hit during a tornado in Kentucky.

More than 80 people have died in the storms that hit six states on 10 from December.

Billy and Judy Miller were two of the 11 victims in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, located northwest of Bowling Green.

According to her granddaughter, Serenity Miller, the couple passed away and they “hugged,” she told KHOU.

“Their love was so deep for each other, we knew they couldn’t survive without each other,” Serenity said.

The couple’s love story began when Billy went to fight in Vietnam.

L The Millers were married, but according to Serenity, the wedding was not what Judy had wanted.

But in her 50 wedding anniversary, Judy got her dream wedding.

“They went and got the wedding he wanted with all of us, the grandchildren,” Serenity told the KHOR network.

“That there was everything for them” .

According to an obituary of the couple, they had three children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Unfortunately, two of the couple’s children and a grandson had preceded them in death.

Upon learning of the storms and the road that took the tornadoes, Serenity went over to try to find her grandparents, but to no avail.

Her house had been reduced to rubble.

Now the family continues to search for any re scatable of Judy and Billy’s nearly six decades together.

One lucky find, according to Serenity, was an item both Millers were proud of: Billy’s Marine jacket.

She was found, covered in mud, but rescued.

The Cleanup continues in Kentucky and surrounding states following tornadoes.

The Red Cross continues to accept donations for the victims of this tragedy.
