The vaccine advisers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States voted unanimously Thursday to recommend that people seeking vaccines or safer and more effective reinforcements choose those from Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna, rather than those made by Johnson & Johnson.

Experts recommended the use of both mRNA vaccines due to an increased risk of problems potentially fatal blood clots associated with Johnson & Johnson .

According to official data, so far have registered nine deaths, between seven women and two men, aged between 28 and the 62 years, between vaccinated with the dose of J&J until September.

About 16 Millions of people in the United States have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as their primary immunization, compared to 73 million fully immunized with Modern vaccine and 114, 000, 000 with Pfizer-BioNTech injections .

According to CNN, CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices also endorsed the updated recommendation after hearing new data indicating that a syndrome of Uncommon blood clotting may be more recurrent among people who recently received a J&J vaccine than previously believed.

The CDC has registered 54 US cases of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome or TTS from that the vaccine was available. Nine people died: seven women and two men.

According to the members of the Advisory Committee on Vaccination Practices (ACIP), they considered the new data and compared it to numerous studies showing that the J&J vaccine is less effective than the Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines in preventing infections .

Despite this, the CDC maintains that the known and potential benefits of the J&J vaccine outweigh the known and potential risks. Therefore, the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine is licensed for use in people older than 18 years, and can be used as a booster vaccine for adults fully vaccinated with the J&J, Pfizer, or Modern.

This recommendation comes days after the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mentioned that only people with a history of a rare type of blood clotting should avoid receiving the covid vaccine – 19 by Johnson & Johnson.

The FDA clarified that it updated its vaccine fact sheets to warn people about the risk of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (STT) , a rare type of blood clotting event that has been linked to Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
