Two suspects arrested who almost crashed into a Christmas parade in Florida

Police are still investigating the intentions of two suspects in the Winter Garden Christmas parade in Florida . The authorities had to cancel the event, a few minutes after its start, after a car nearly hit an officer who was trying to close the street where the event was to be held.

Police said officers were in downtown Winter Garden preparing to close the roads for the parade when a vehicle approached at high speed. An officer tried to slow it down , but officers confirmed that the driver accelerated further and in the direction of the officer , which luckily was unharmed.

After the accident, the driver got out of the vehicle and escaped. Authorities explained that an off-duty Kissimmee Police Department officer in the crowd and saw the driver run, was able to grab him and hold him until the authorities arrived.

“It was a reflection,” he said the man, who has become one of the heroes of the community. While he said that there was a large crowd for the parade , no one was injured. However, investigators said the driver of the crashed vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police have also confirmed there was a woman and two minors inside the suspect’s car . The driver, identified as Terryus Baker, was arrested. His wife, Elizabeth Chávez, is also in police custody.

The man told authorities that he knew he had a warrant for his arrest. was reportedly arrested for not having a valid driver’s license , for possession of narcotics, assault aggravated to an officer, child neglect, among other things.

Police said Chávez also had a warrant for her and she was arrested. The researchers said that the children were released to the Department of Children and Families . City officials said they will try to reschedule the parade for another time.
