Floyd Mayweather Jr . lit the flame of controversy after hinting that Canelo doped in his fights . “Money” questioned how little is said about the improper substances allegedly used by the Mexican. Saúl Álvarez tested positive for clenbuterol in 2018 and that put his career in question. However, the promoter Eddie Hearn considers that the man from Guadalajara cleared his name.
“ He ultimately cleared his name and a lot of people had to eat his words, including me at the time . But if you are going to hate someone there is an opportunity to do so. When you are close to someone you meet people and I meet Canelo Álvarez , I know what sport It means for him, those accusations don’t sit well with me because I know the guy, ”Hearn said in an interview for Fight Hub.
The promoter acknowledged that in the past he was one of Saúl Álvarez’s detractors to root of the incident. However, Hearn affirmed that this was part of the previous one, his criticisms heated the contests and gave a greater relevance to the fighting in which their fighters participated against the Guadalajara.
“ In the past I was guilty of saying something probably without much knowledge . Maybe I had a fighter facing him, so I was trying to warm up a bit. P but he has done everything he had to do to clear his name ”, he assured.
