The chronic shortage of nursing staff has motivated Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear , to declare an emergency and take executive action, while the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc.

Data indicate that Kentucky would need more than 16, 000 additional nurses for 2024 , since both retirements and the abandonment of activity due to the coronavirus will leave vacancies.
