California highway patrolman rescues 4-year-old boy from woman who tried to drown him
A officer from the California Highway Patrol rescued a 4-year-old boy held underwater in an irrigation canal by a woman ” extremely combative ”, said the officers.
Taylor Delaine Green, from 25 year old , from Dobbins, California was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder , endangering a child, resisting arrest, attempting to take an officer’s weapon and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the California Highway Police (CHP) Yuba-Sutter announced in a statement from press.
On Monday, the CHP received a report from a Dodge Caravan 2005 blocking Woodruff Lane, a country road east of Armstrong Road.
An offi cial arrived at the area and was checking the vehicle, when he heard screams coming from some 500 meters west of where he was standing.
The officer saw Green among some grasses adjacent to the irrigation canal and was “acting irrationally ”
He seemed to be under the influence of drugs.
When the officer approached her, he saw Green holding the boy upside down, “suffocating him on the muddy embankment,” according to the press release.
At that time, Green completely submerged the boy and herself in about 5 feet of water in the canal, the CHP said.
The officer jumped into the canal and pulled the boy out of the water , freeing him from Green.
The officer crawled up the embankment outside the canal, while Green grappled with him in his attempt or by taking it underwater with the child.
The officer fought with Green for several minutes , while holding the boy with the other hand, according to the press release.
Then, Green tried several times to remove the weapon from the officer’s holster “while she continued to resist violently,” the CHP said.
The officer turned the boy over to a Yuba County sheriff’s sergeant, who had just arrived at the scene, while he and Green continued to fight.
Sheriff’s deputies, Marysville police officers, and other CHP officers responded to the call and ultimately arrested Green.
The woman was booked into the Yuba County Jail and held there on bail set at $ 500. 04 dollars, according to regi stros of the jail.
It was unclear from the press release if Green was related to the boy.
