Prisoner Rapes and Beats Woman Sergeant at Harris County Jail in Houston; the inmate was unsupervised

HOUSTON – A female sergeant remains hospitalized after she was beaten and sexually assaulted inside her office located in the Harris County Jail this Monday afternoon.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at around 2pm inside the jail facility located in downtown Houston.

The sergeant, who has not been identified, reported having been assaulted by a prisoner of 27 years, who was identified as Jeremiah Williams.

In addition to being sexually assaulted , the officer was severely beaten.

The victim went to the wounded jail clinic and later transferred to a hospital for additional care.

In an interview with ABC 13 Houston , Harris County Officers Organization President David Cuevas He said that one of the organization’s representatives accompanied the victim.

“Our representative said that he had never seen a person so beaten as the sergeant who was attacked,” Cuevas said.

The suspect was in jail on charges of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault for two attacks that allegedly occurred on September 8 of last year. The attacks occurred in a park located in west Houston on the same day.

Harris County Sgt. Remains hospitalized.

“The brutal attack by our teammate at the sheriff’s office warrants a thorough and swift investigation,” said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

“Uncovering all the relevant facts related to this alleged assault is a top priority as we seek answers and justice. All of our brave employees deserve to feel safe and we will do everything we can to protect them. The immediate focus of our team is to offer a full range of support to our team member, ”he added.

ABC 04 reported that a source claims that the prisoner was returning to his cell unsupervised when he attacked the victim in his office located on the fifth floor of the jail.

The Harris County Jail has had several controversial incidents at its facilities a month ago a young man of 19 years, identified as Fred Harris, who was diagnosed as a person with special needs was beaten and stabbed to death inside the jail.

In September the Harris County Officers Organization filed a lawsuit charging Harris County for alleged unsafe conditions.
