Twitter's new CEO was accused of being racist for this message he wrote in 2010

The new Twitter CEO, Parag Agrawal , was accused of racism by a tweet from 2010 where he asked: “ Why should I distinguish between white and racist? “, Where he apparently quoted comedian Aasif Mandvi.
In a segment of The Daily Show by 2010, Mandvi questioned that they will seek to face African Americans against Muslims.
“‘If you are not going to make a distinction between Muslims and extremists, why should I distinguish between whites and racists?'” Agrawal posted on Twitter in October of 2010.
Users were quick to attack the new CEO, after the tweet circulated again.
“The new CEO of Twitter does not know how to delete his own tweets,” wrote one user.
“Oh look who the new CEO of Twitter is. A total racist, (we’re going to) have fun, Parag, “another joked.
” Parag, if you’re always thinking about race, then YOU ARE the racist ”, added another user.
However, some readers jumped in defense of Agrawal.
“In fact, I’m amazed at how much this is being exaggerated,” wrote another. “He is . about that we shouldn’t generalize to people. ”
Jack Dorsey announced on Monday that he was officially resigning as CEO of Twitter, the tech giant he co-founded on 2006.
Agrawal, who has worked for the company for 10 years, previously served as CTO before being named CEO.
“I decided to leave Twitter because I think the company is ready to leave its founder,” Dorsey said in a statement.
“My trust in Parag as CEO of Twitter runs deep. His work over the last 10 has been transformative. I am deeply grateful for your skill, heart and soul. It’s your time to lead. ”
The employer also shared the email he sent to internal employees on Twitter, signing “hello mom!”
Following the news, Twitter shares rose as much as nine percent, while Square, a company of which Dorsey is also CEO, rose three percent.
Nasdaq then quickly suspended Twitter stock trading.
The company’s board of directors has been preparing for Dorsey’s departure since last year, sources said.
The shocking news comes more than a decade after Dorsey co-founded the platform along with Ev Williams, Biz Stone and Noah Glass in 2006.
Agrawal released his own statement on become CEO, shortly after Dorsey’s comments.
“I am honored and humbled and grateful for your continued mentorship and their friendship, ”Agrawal wrote.
“ I am grateful for the service they built, the culture, the soul and the purpose they fostered among us. , and for leading the company through really important challenges. ”
