Before the irruption of the new ómicron variant , and the concerns that it is generating , the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) insist that all adults receive a dose of booster vaccine , to have greater protection against covid – 19.

The call is for all older than 18 years , who must receive a booster injection at six months of the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer, and two months after the single dose of Johnson & Johnson.

“I strongly urge the 47 millions of adults who are not yet vaccinated to do so to possible, since vaccinate children and adolescents in their families as well , because a strong immunity probably it will prevent serious diseases ”, cites CNN Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC.

Walensky stressed that the data available at the moment indicate that there is a greater contagion from omicron .

Too President Biden spoke about it , and said that the best protection against this variant is to get vaccinated .

Last month, the CDC recommended that those older than 50 years and people with risk conditions received a booster dose of the covid vaccine – 19. The recommendation changed with the irruption of omicron, because now they make this call to all the people of 19 years onwards.

Still not known if it is a more contagious variant and if vaccines or a previous covid infection – 19 provide some protection against it.

“To stop the spread of covid – 19, we must follow prevention strategies that we know work ”, clarifies the director of the CDC. He also asked those who do not feel well to take a test for the disease, because “an increase in tests will help us to identify omicron quickly.”
