A Georgia woman was fatally stabbed by her son on Thanksgiving , said the police.
Marcia Chance , of years, was discovered dead and with stab wounds inside a Lawrenceville home by officers responding to a report of a domestic assault just before noon Thursday Gwinnett County Police said in a statement.
The son of 16 years of Chance, Varian Alexander Hibbert , who also lived at the residence, was arrested at the scene by the police, on felony homicide charges , aggravated assault and possession of a knife while committing a felony, police said.
“We don’t have a motive at this time,” said a spokesperson from Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office to the New York Post Friday in an email.
Hibbert is being held without bond at the facility Gwinnett County arrest, records show. It is unclear if he has retained an attorney who can comment on his behalf.
Hibbert was arrested in August on criminal property damage charges and deliberate obstruction of law enforcement officers through threats or violence, WAGA-TV reported.
He was arrested on similar charges approximately two weeks later the station reported. It is not clear if Chance was in any way related to those incidents.
“I was very surprised by that,” neighbor Cameron Boyd told WAGA- TV about the Thanksgiving Day murder.
“I didn’t think (Hibbert) was really capable of doing something like that… It’s your mom And it’s Thanksgiving, as if that’s the craziest part. ”
Another relative within the family home called 911, after Chance was stabbed, according to the station.
“It’s devastating,” said neighbor Henriette Robinson . “I never thought it would, you know, come to this.”
Robinson said he had previously seen Hibbert “speaking to himself” outside and accused him trying to enter your home.
“It’s really disturbing,” Robinson told WAGA-TV. “I mean, you know, I’m sorry for this mother.”
