Los Angeles County Authorities on High Alert Against Intense Wind Forecasts

The Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management reported that will be on maximum alert from this Wednesday to the forecasts of intense wind and weather conditions that could cause fires that can affect a large part of its territory until Friday morning .

In a statement published this Wednesday, the authorities indicated that the National Weather Service predicts dry weather under extreme wind conditions in Los Angeles County , with gusts that can reach 60 miles per hour.

Due to the force of the wind, may occur power outages with high potential for a forest fire to occur.

For this reason, the Office of Emergency Management asked residents to be cons Conscientious and prepared for possible incidents as of this Wednesday afternoon .

“These strong Santa Ana wind events require our entire community to be ready, including our world-class emergency services and emergency management organizations that will be on high alert starting today, ”said Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management Director Kevin McGowan.

“Emergency response officials throughout Los Angeles County will be ready to defend lives and property, but we also need the collaboration of our entire community to keep us safe as a region. . You can do your part by staying informed and ready to evacuate at any time, especially if you live in canyon, mountain or hill communities, ”added McGowan.

It is also recommended be prepared with your family and pets before the possibility of having to evacuate your residence . Park your vehicle facing the street so you don’t have to back up and avoid being trapped behind an electrically powered garage door.

Register in the emergency notification systems available in your communities , identify the system that your local police agency uses, in your workplace and in other places that you or your family members frequent.

Be attentive to notices in local news and have a battery-operated radio on hand to access the news in the event of a power outage .
