Mazda CX-50: new design and driving dynamics

Mazda has revealed the CX – 50, a completely new crossover that redefines the concepts of design and driving dynamics to adapt them to North America , where it will be distributed. The CX – 50, in addition, it will be the first model to be manufactured in the new Mazda plant in the country, located in Huntsville, Alabama and, according to the official statement, its production has been scheduled to begin in January 2022.

The CX – 50 is inspired by freedom. Therefore, the brand has endowed it with several attributes that enhance the driving experience on all types of terrain : Skyactiv-G 2.5 naturally aspirated engine or Skyactiv-G 2.5 engine Turbo, both paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and the new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) driver assistance system that offers multiple drive modes to suit off-road driving. In the future, the brand also hopes to offer this model in an electrified version and a hybrid version, guided by the zero emissions boom that is taking over the world.

“This new Mazda vehicle has been developed for North America, particularly to support the styles of outdoor and active lives of customers in this region, ” said Jeff Guyton, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations . “The CX – 50 encourages people to immerse themselves in nature without compromising the premium design and excellent road performance that Mazda is known for. ”

In addition to improving the distribution of space inside the cabin to ensure occupant comfort, Mazda lived up to the spirit of this CUV when considering the connection with nature as a necessary experience to define it . In that sense, it equipped it with a panoramic sliding roof that allows driving under the open sky and that is imposed as the first used by Mazda in this class of vehicles.

Until now, Mazda has not given details on the possible dates in which this crossover will arrive at its dealerships . However, it maintains in its official statement that once it leaves its production line it will be distributed in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
