Border Patrol Agents Rescue Abandoned Immigrant Girl On An Island In The Rio Grande

Border Patrol (CBP) agents encountered a group of undocumented migrants who entered the United States near Eagle Pass, Texas.

A woman in the group informed the agents that her youngest daughter stayed on an island in the Rio Grande between the United States and Mexico.

Agents notified the Eagle Pass Station Fluvial Unit that immediately responded to the area and located a total of 10 undocumented migrants on the island, including the girl. The family, mother and daughter of Venezuelan nationality, was immediately reunited.

“Human traffickers are cold and calculated, they often separate families for their own convenience or to achieve compliance, ”said Acting Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert Danley . “Fortunately, our agents acted quickly and were able to locate the girl and reunite her with her mother without incident.”

Fortunately, during this rescue of a group of immigrants, none required medical attention and all were transferred to be processed, reported CBP.
