An 8-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a car while her parents were involved in an incident of alleged domestic violence , reported Fresno city authorities.
According to the California Highway Patrol , on Friday, shortly after 10 pm, María Ortiz, 8 years old, was in a truck accompanied by her mother, who was at the wheel, and Juan del Toro, 51 years, who was in the passenger seat.
Research indicates that Del Toro became violent with María’s mother , so they stopped their way.
At that moment, Maria got out of the truck and started walking down the road , while the discussion continued between the mother and Juan del Toro.
On Friday night, the weather conditions were not optimal , so a dense fog was present in the area and the little girl was walking on a fairly busy road .
Due to the ni ebla, a driver of 82 years did not see the little Hispanic and could not avoid running over her .
Authorities indicated that Maria’s mother was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, while Del Toro was booked into the Fresno County Jail on a misdemeanor assault charge.
The driver who ran over the 8-year-old girl stopped at the scene and cooperated in the authorities’ investigations.
