On Saturday afternoon several users on Twitter reported the passage of two tornadoes on Long Island , in southeastern New York State. Moments earlier, the National Weather Service (NWS) had issued several tornado alerts in the state.
The first one landed in Woodmere, leaving damage and several downed power lines . Then, it soared into the sky and moved toward Hempstead, Uniondale, and Levittown.
In Uniondale, the tornado ripped the roof off a two-story colonial home and sent it several streets down, but no injuries so far. However, threw debris into the air, shattered windows and several venues were affected by powerful winds .
On the other hand, in Levittown, the powerful winds uprooted a tree and ended up falling on a house several meters from the place. According to reports, there were people inside, but they were unharmed from the event .
“I was working at my house and my wife, we had the alerts, and my wife said to start closing the doors and I was like, oh, everything is going to be fine and in five minutes I started to close a little , some hail came and then I heard the tree fell on the neighbor’s house “said neighbor Eddie Graboski to ABC7 on Saturday.
“We can confirm the first tornado of severe weather yesterday in our region. An EF-0 briefly landed in several cities in Nassau County, NY, ”the NWS New York office wrote on Twitter.
E n other areas, despite the fact that there were no tornadoes, strong electrical storms, rain and hail were recorded to more than 50 miles per hour.
