The Pope Francis asked the international community act “immediately, with courage and vision for the future” on climate change , hours after the COP 26 ended with timid advances and promises from rich countries regarding the elimination of fossil fuels, but without major advances.
“ The cry of the poor, together with that of the Earth, has resounded in recent days at the top of the UN on climate change at the COP 26 in Glasgow ”, Francis said at the end of the Angelus prayer and after recalling that this Sunday is the World Day of the Poor.
“I encourage all who have political responsibilities and economic actions to act immediately or, with courage and vision of f uturo ”, he added before the dozens of people gathered in the Vatican’s Saint Peter’s Square to listen to his words.
He also launched an appeal “to all to exercise active citizenship for the care of the common home. ”
