Hispanic mother identified as drunk driving to a baby shower with five children in the car; his daughter died in the accident

HOUSTON – The authorities identified the Hispanic mother who was driving this Sunday morning in an alleged state of drunkenness and who crashed into a traffic sign on a Houston highway in the vehicle he was driving. With her were five other children, including her four-year-old daughter, who died in the accident .

The charges against the driver Rosalía Sánchez , of 35 years, were modified hours after the accident after officers learned that a four-year-old girl, who was traveling in the vehicle, died of her injuries sustained in the incident. The other four children were also injured in the accident.

New reports indicate that the suspect’s daughter was not fastened with a seat belt and that he was traveling on the legs of one of the other little passengers.

Investigators believe that the girl suffered a severe head injury when she was expelled from the vehicle.

Sánchez now faces felony murder charges, according to officials.

Investigators at the scene said the woman was heading home after being at a baby shower party. During the investigation it was determined that the woman was intoxicated.

Authorities reported that not all the children who traveled with Sánchez were their children.

Sheriff Ed González on his Twitter account confirmed that the driver is the victim’s mother.

The other four children were taken to the hospital as a precaution and their conditions were not disclosed until Sunday afternoon.

González reported that the children in the vehicle are between 2 and 10 years old.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
