A Russian own goal gave Croatia qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Croatia could seal the ticket to the next Qatar World Cup 2022 , thanks to a “help” from Russia with an own goal by F edor Kudryashov leaving his team with the obligation to seek to finalize his pass to the World Cup through the European playoffs.

The world runner-up showed his virtues with Luka Modric on the field, completely annulling the Russian team without a chance to see the ball and precisely in the first half, those led by Zlatko Dalic, hid the ball having a 67 percent of possession and a number of passes of 325.

Russia was able to survive the first half with the goalkeeper’s saves Matvey Safonov kept his selection with zero in his goal, although his teammates did not have clear reactions to try to score a goal, which could change history to achieve his direct pass to the World Cup.

The Croats came out with the same tonic in the second half, but everything indicated that the game would run out of goals, until the Russian misfortune arrived with Fedor Kudryashov’s own goal, who in an attempt to intercept a cross into the small area, ended up deflecting for his own goal.

Croatia was able to seal their direct ticket to the next World Cup after being leaders of Group H, while the Russian team will have to wait for a rival for the World Cup play-off. On the other hand, both teams shared a group with Slovakia, Slovenia, Cyprus and Malta.
