About 100,000 pounds of chicken, most sold at Trader Joe's, were recalled for containing bone fragments

Approximately 100 thousand pounds of ground chicken for hamburgers , most sold in Trader Joe’s , were recalled for containing bone fragments .

The Food Safety and Inspection Service belonging to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported in a statement

that the affected ground chicken could be “contaminated with foreign materials, specifically pieces of bone.”

Trader Joe’s items affected are two frozen chicken products: Lemon Chili Chicken Burgers and Feta Spinach Chicken Sliders.

USDA said the problem was discovered by the manufacturer, Innovation Solutions, based in Washington , after “complaints from consumers who reported findings of bone in the chicken burger product.”

Affected Lemon Chili Chicken Burgers have batch codes 2281, 2291, 2311, 2351, 2361, 2371, 2441, 2511, 2521, 2531, 2561, 2591, 2601, 2671 and 2721.

The chicken sliders with feta cheese and spinach that were removed An on the market are 9 pound bulk packages containing 72 pieces, with batch codes 2361 and 2631.

Customers were asked to discard the recalled products or return them to the store.

Both products were sold nationally and were produced between 16 August and 29 September.

USDA said there have been no “confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products”.

Trader Joe’s did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

USDA routinely conducts withdrawal effectiveness checks from the market to verify that companies notify their customers about the recall and that take the necessary steps to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
