The German team has canceled a training planned for this Tuesday -for Thursday’s game against Liechtenstein- due to the positive for coronavirus of defender Niklas Süle, while four other players are in quarantine.
Sources from the German Football Federation (DFB) confirmed the isolation of the five players , after the newspaper “Bild” and other media advanced the news and the names of those affected.
Süle, from Bayern Munich, was infected despite having the complete pattern of the vaccine and had already tested positive last year.
The other four players who were quarantined were negative in a test, but in any case it has been decided to isolate them because they are people of direct contact.
The DFB has ensured that the situation will not affect the team’s next matches.
According to German media, the four players in quarantine are Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Kar im Adeyemi and Joshua Kimmich , who must leave the gathering place, together with Süle.
“ The news is naturally hard a few days before the matches. But health has priority “, said the director of national teams of the DFB, Oliver Bierhoff.
Germany already qualification for the Qatar World Cup is assured 2022 and must play against Liechtenstein on Thursday and against Armenia on Sunday.
Kimmich raised a strong stir these days, even in the political sphere, after stating that he did not want to be vaccinated due to having personal doubts about its effectiveness.
From the government of the outgoing Chancellor, Angela Merkel, this decision has been regretted and the hope has even been expressed that the player will “reconsider” it, although it has been insisted that vaccination will not be mandatory.
