“I will take my next paycheck at 100% in Bitcoin, and problem solved , ”Suárez said in response to Anthony Pompliano’s tweet, which asked if he would be the first US politician to accept his salary in BTC.

Mike Sarasti, in charge of computer systems for the city of Miami, confirmed that the mayor is in the process of registering to receive payment in Bitcoin . “My experience receiving a portion of my salary last week was perfect,” he said.

Mayor Suárez wants to turn the city of Miami into a Bitcoin hub, that would integrate this cryptocurrency into city operations and allow employees to receive their paychecks with this currency . The latter might not be necessary for actual implementation by the city, as people can do it with systems like Strike. But allowing citizens to pay city fees and taxes through Bitcoin is among the mayor’s plans.
