Luis Fernando Tena won the casting: Guatemala announced the Mexican as its new DT

After belonging to a list of candidates to be the coach of Guatemala , the Mexican Luis Fernando Tena was chosen after reviewing the projects offered to lead the chapines to compete for a place in the World Cup 2026.

Tena, who is recognized for achieving the gold medal of the London Olympic Games in 2012 , with the Mexican Olympic team, had to compete for the position together two important candidates in which the Colombians Jorge Luis Pinto and Hernán Darío Gómez stood out, the latter being discarded when he was hired by Honduras to replace the Uruguayan Fabián Coito.

The new coach will be conducting consultancies with the youth processes of Guatemala, to begin to promote football in the minor categories and thus be able to consolidate the path to the next World Cup.
