City of Carson, in a state of emergency due to the bad smell in the Domínguez canal

Officially, this Monday a state of local emergency was declared in Carson , the environment.

During a meeting held in the morning, inhabitants of this town showed their frustration in the mayor’s office and came to confront local politicians .

Residents questioned why it took so long for a state of emergency to be declared. Initially, only one order of “disturbance of public order” had been issued, which does not have the same legal implications as an emergency.

Since October 3, the bad The smell coming from the Domínguez Canal has prevailed in the city’s environment, supposedly caused by the presence of hydrogen sulfide gas that emanates from decomposing material in the canal .

For this problem, 26 families have moved to three hotels away from the canal , while others made the decision to emigrate from the city.

About 3, 000 residents requested reimbursement of the expenses they allocated to try to deal with the bad olo r, such as the purchase of air purifiers.
