More than 181 thousand Mexicans have been repatriated from the United States so far in 2021, reveals the INM

The National Institute of Migration (INM) Mexican reported this Sunday that it has attended 176, 80 nationals repatriated from the United States from January to 14 October, an increase of almost 18% compared to the same period of 2020.

With these data, the number of Mexicans repatriated from the United States is close to the total of all 2020, when the INM received 184, 402 compatriots.

The number of Mexicans returned from the United States so far 2021 is also almost 3 % higher than 10 first months of 2019, when the INM attended 176, 204.

“Of the total nationals, adults are 145, 274 men and 17, 193, women. Whereas 20, 597 are minor of age, of which 14, 615 They were unaccompanied, ”the INM detailed in a statement.

The figures are reported in the midst of a record migratory flow to the United States , whose US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has “found” more than 1.5 million illegal immigrants on the border with Mexico so far this fiscal year 2020.

Of the total reported in the period, from October 2020 to August 2021, more than a third are Mexican, representing little more than 595, 000 from interceptions, according to CBP.

The INM report does not clarify whether the Mexicans it has received faced deportation after years of living in the United States or after arrest at the border.

The main point of return of migrants has been Baja California, in the northwest of the country, where they have returned to 93, 325 nationals.

Followed by Sonora with 20, 715 and Tamaulipas with 20, 864.

The agency also announced Coahuila (15, 582 ), Chihuahua (12, 317), City d e Mexico (3, 484), Jalisco (3, 322), Tabasco (2, 417), Querétaro (1, 236), Michoacán (1, 167) and Puebla (635).

“This immigration authority has a repatriation program that provides Mexicans returned from the United States and Canada with dignified treatment with respect for their human rights,” said the INM, which depends on the Ministry of the Interior. (Segob).

The Government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador has promised to establish programs to welcome migrants returning from the United States , identified as “countrymen”.
