FORT HOOD – Army Officers at the Military Base of Fort Hood They identified a soldier who was found dead this Saturday outside a barracks.
Specialist Maxwell Hockin, from 26 years, he was discovered dead on October 9, according to the statement that officials released, but did not specify the cause of his death.
Hockin was assigned to the Battalion 91 of Engineers and was at Fort Hood since July 2017.
“The entire Saber family is devastated by the loss of a true teammate and friend,” said Lt. Patrick Sullivan, Battalion Commander 91 of Engineers in the statement.
“Specialist Maxwell Hockin had a notorious work ethic, he was a mentor to his colleagues who was always ready to help his team. He will be missed a lot. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Maxwell family during this difficult time, ”he added.
The Army Criminal Investigation Command is investigating the case.
The Fort Hood base has been under investigation for the past year in large part for the murder of Hispanic specialist Vanessa Guillén that occurred last year in the facilities of an armory warehouse.
The Guillén case revealed severe flaws in the procedures to protect victims of abuse. In recent months, several officers have been removed from their posts and others reassigned to lower positions.
