The October Festivities are celebrated for the first time in Los Angeles

For the first time, the traditional October Festivities are held in Los Angeles within the framework of the Jalisco Week in Hispanic Heritage Month.

“We will have mariachis, great artists, exhibitions , gastronomy, culture and folklore ”, says Vicente Ortiz, director of the Jaliscienses Unidos en Acción (AJUA) association, a non-profit organization focused on the integral development of Jalisco people on both sides of the border.

Every year, throughout the month of October, the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico celebrates the October Festivities with live music, artists, dance, fireworks, Mexican snacks, sale of artisan products and various cultural activities. This year, Jalisciences and Latinos living in Los Angeles will be able to enjoy these parties.

“We made the plan to bring Jalisco to Los Angeles and we have achieved it,” says Ortiz.

Liliana Caballero, is an entrepreneur from Jalisco who for the first time came to Los Angeles to promote his hand-painted hats from his company Tahbeck in La Jalisco Week.

“He was part of a group of entrepreneurs who for the first time want to export; and we have come to show you our products here in Los Angeles ”.

Caballero said that he has been working on his hat project for two years, which he develops with low-income Mexican artisans, mostly single mothers.

“The 30% of the proceeds are donated to women’s causes. ”

Claudia Villarruel, director of foreign trade for the state of Jalisco, leads a retinue of 38 entrepreneurs who came to Los Angeles to participate in Jalisco Week.

“We bring products from Jalisco, tequila, raicilla ( ancestral drink), handicrafts, processed foods and fashion. ”

He says that it is a commitment of the governor of Jalisco, Enrique Álfaro to support Jalisco citizens abroad.

“We have come because we want to be close as a government to our Jalisco citizens and build a link not only cultural, migratory but commercial and legal.”

He added that they want to bring preparation, training and business opportunities.

“We want our entrepreneurs to find potential partners and clients.”

Jalisco Week “October Festivities”, started on Tuesday with a presentation by by the historian Gregorio Luke and the Mariachi Camperos.

Wednesday October 6 from 6 to 10 pm, they will celebrate a soccer match between the legendary soccer group Chivas de Guadalajara against the FAS of El Salvador at the Banc of California stadium ; and in the intermission the mariachi Estrella de México will cheer up the meeting.

On Friday, October 8, from 6 to pm at Smith Park, located at 6016 Rosemead Blvd in the city of Pico Rivera, will have four hours of music with the participation of mariachis, Estrella de México, Los Reyes and singer Ángel NG and the Ballet México Folklórico.

On Saturday, October 9, from 11 am to 11 pm at Pico Rivera Sports Arena, again will participate the ballet and the mariachis Nuevo Tecatitlán, Mariachis Estrella de México, Mariachi Los Reyes and the singers Ángel NG, Ángel García and Brian Múñoz.

On Sunday 10 October, 11 am to 11 pm At the Pico Rivera Sports Arena, the popular singer Lupillo Rivera, and the bands Pequeños Musical and Banda Astilleros will perform.
