MacArthur Foundation Scholarships , one of the most prestigious scholarships awarded each year in the United States, was announced this week for the promotion of 2021. Between the 25 “geniuses” (this is how these scholarship recipients are popularly known), there are six Hispanics: Daniel Alarcón, Alex Rivera, Víctor J. Torres, Daniel Lind-Ramos , Mónica Muñoz Martínez and Cristina Ibarra.

These scholarships are awarded to individuals who excel in exceptional ways in areas such as science, entertainment, literature, or art. They are people who are innovating in their professional sectors, breaking barriers and helping to build a better future for new generations.

The criteria for awarding the scholarship are: exceptional creativity, promise of future improvement based on past achievements, and potential of the scholarship to assist in the next creative job. Lin-Manuel Miranda , for example, received this scholarship in 2015.

Daniel Alarcón, writer and radio producer

Alarcón is a novelist and radio producer who explores the social, cultural, and linguistic ties that connect the peoples of Latin America and the Hispanic communities of the Americas. Alarcón’s work recounts the social and cultural ties that connect the Hispanic communities of the Americas. Alex Rivera, filmmaker
