NEW YORK- The United States Attorney General’s Office has delivered in the last hours to the defense a series of new evidence against the former Mexican Secretary of Security accused of drug trafficking, Genaro García Luna , including documents provided by the government of Mexico .

According to a letter published last night in the electronic system of the US federal courts, the prosecution stated that The documents, which detail the “frequent commercial activities” of García Luna, are “protected material”, so their details cannot be made public.

These new documents will become part of the long list of tests that the US Attorney General’s Office has against García Luna, which last May already presented financial records, photographs rescued from Google Earth and writings contributed by the Mexican and Colombian governments, whose content It was not revealed either.

Genaro García Luna, who was Secretary of Security during the government of Felipe Calderón (2006 – 2012), is being held in a Brooklyn jail, in New York, pending his trial before a federal court in the United States.

The former secretary was arrested in December 2012 in Dallas, Texas, accused of drug trafficking and accepting bribes from Joaquín “El Chapo ”Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa cartel, while he was in charge of Mexico’s national security.

According to the US government, those bribes would have allowed the shipment of tons of cocaine and other drugs to the United States .
