US denies hostility to North Korea, offers cooperation
The United States Special Representative for North Korea , Sung Kim, affirmed this Thursday that his country does not have any hostility against North Korea and offered cooperation in humanitarian affairs, after Pyongyang accused Washington of hostile.
“I want to make it clear again that The United States does not maintain any hostile intention against DPRK (acronym for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) ”said Kim in Jakarta after a meeting with South Korea’s Special Representative for Security and Peace on the Korean Peninsula, Noh Kyu-duk.
“We are also prepared to work in cooperation with DPRK in areas of common humanitarian interest,” added the US representative, who supported humanitarian assistance to the “most vulnerable” of Korea North and the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
The US diplomat’s statement comes two days after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un denied that he was going to accept a dialogue offer from Washington considering that it has not modified its “hostile policy” against Pyongyang.
“As the actions of the last eight months after the establishment of the new US administration, their hostile political and military threat against us has not changed at all, ”Kim told a parliamentary session held in Pyongyang on Wednesday and released today by the state agency KCNA.
Kim, whose country tested a new hypersonic missile two days ago in an arms escalation on the peninsula, nevertheless stated that will resume communications in October Telematics connections with Seoul, broken since August.
