TEXAS – A Houston man faces felony charges in connection with the death of a baby and the sexual assault of another girl.
This Tuesday charges were filed against Cortez Tiaral Evans, of 25 years, for having caused injuries to a minor and for super charged sexual assault of a minor under six years of age.
Evans was arrested by police in Missouri on Tuesday and will be extradited to Harris County, according to Harris Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Investigators reported that Evans was caring for his girlfriend’s seven-month-old baby at a residence located on the block 5600 from Aldine Bender Street.
The baby, who was identified as Messiah Burger, was found by officers responding to a call from a girl who was not breathing.
The little girl was not breathing and was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Doctors declared that the girl had suffered severe blows to the head and that she had internal injuries in various parts of her body.
Court documents also reveal that Evans hit the baby with a bare fist and other objects.
Evans was officially charged with causing injury to a minor on 20 of September.
According to court documents, investigators in the case interviewed another girl about Evans.
The 7-year-old girl told investigators on July 8 that Evans sexually assaulted her several when she was 5 years.
