“Blah, blah, blah”: Greta Thunberg mocks world rulers and their promises at youth climate summit

He took his emblematic phrases and added the same tagline over and over again: blah, blah, blah.

“Rebuild better, blah, blah, blah”, “green economy, blah blah blah “,” zero emissions for the 2050, blah blah blah “,” climate neutral, blah, blah, blah. ”

The Swedish activist against climate change Greta Thunberg took advantage of her speech before the UN Youth Conference on Climate, which began this Tuesday in Milan (Italy), to mock world political leaders, whom he accused of offering empty promises that are not followed by action.

“That’s all we hear from our so-called leaders. Words, words that sound great, but have not led to any action so far, ”said the young woman from 18 year old.

“Our hopes and dreams are drowned in his words and empty promises. Sure we need constructive dialogue, but they already carry 30 years of blah, blah, blah and where have they taken us? ”, he wondered.

Despite his criticism, Thunberg said that it is still possible to turn around the situation posed by climate change.

“It is completely possible. It will require drastic annual emissions cuts like the world has never seen before, “Thunberg said.

” We cannot continue to let the people in power decide what is politically possible or not. We cannot continue to let the people in power decide what hope is. Hope is not passive. Hope is not blah blah blah. Hope is telling the truth. The hope is to act. And hope always comes from people ”, he concluded.

Some 400 young people from 186 countries participate in the Youth Climate Summit that will last three days and from where they are expected emerging proposals to be presented at the next international climate change conference (COP 26) in Glasgow (United Kingdom), to be held between 1 and 12 November .
