President Joe Biden: “I will get my booster shot”

A day after public health officials gave final approval for the booster shot, President Joe Biden said he plans to receive a third dose of Pfizer-BioNTech “as soon as I can” .

After more than a week of debates and voting in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the director of The CDC, Rochelle Walensky, approved that certain Americans receive the third injection .

The agency said that those over 65 years and those older than 19 who have underlying medical conditions or are at increased risk for COVID – 19 due to their jobs they can now receive the reinforcement.

Biden falls into the category of those eligible for booster because of his age: 78 years.

“I will receive my booster shot,” he said about the pandemic in the White House. “It is difficult to recognize that I am more than 65 years old, but I will get my booster shot. ”

“ I’m not sure exactly when I’m going to do it, as soon as I can. ”

Biden also encouraged Americans to get their booster shot.

“My message today is as follows: if you received the Pfizer vaccine, you received the Pfizer vaccine in January, February or March of this year, and you have more than 65 years, get the booster, ”he said.

“Or if you have a medical condition like diabetes, or are a front line worker like a healthcare worker or teacher, you can get a free booster dose now.”

Some Pfizer vaccine, of which some 19 millions are eligible because it has been at least six months since they completed the standard two-dose regimen.

For those who received the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines, Biden said scientists were evaluating data to determine if additional injections are needed.

“We will provide updates as the process progresses,” he noted.
