A father in Oklahoma City struck a pastor with a skull fracture and a black eye on Thursday after seeing him touching his 9-year-old son at the school bus stop . When the police arrived at the scene, the clergyman was lying on the ground with his severe injuries .
The minor told his parents that Michael Coghill, pastor of 33 years, he was always jogging near the school bus stop and that this Monday he touched him awkward way . Faced with such a confession, the father parked his car nearby and with telephone in hand he recorded the fact: the clergyman returned to touch the child .
Seeing Coghill’s attitude, the man did not think about it, he jumped on top of the priest and beat him, leaving him with a fractured skull and the left eye totally purple . Neighbors heard the scandal and quickly called the police.
“While looking at the school bus stop, our suspect ran past him, ran past the bus stop where the children were waiting. He turned around, came back and stopped where he touched the child , ”said Oklahoma Police Sgt. Dillon Quirk.
For its part, Lakehoma Church of Christ condemned the acts de Coghill and announced that the pastor “was relieved of his duties “.
“Our church leadership does not tolerate any type of abuse. Safety is our highest priority for our community, congregation, and especially our children. In recent years we have made significant efforts to secure our children’s area by providing the highest possible safety standards, ”the church wrote in a statement posted on Facebook.
“There are hardly any words that are appropriate for the camera. It’s just disgusting. I knew the time I would be there every day, that was the hardest part ”said Lisa Ward, a neighbor, to News9 .
So far it is not known if charges will be brought against the child’s father for assault .
