More than 200 leading companies Amazon , including Twitter, Salesforce and Procter & Gamble, have signed a climate pledge with which they intend to reduce their carbon emissions over the next two decades .
“I believe that now, more than ever, companies like Amazon have an obligation to lead the fight for our planet,” said Monday Andy Jassy , Amazon CEO , in a statement.
The signatory companies include Visa, Twitter, Pepsi, Heineken, Alaska Airlines, Procter & Gamble, HP and the Amazon itself. When a company signs the pledge, commits to regularly measure and report on greenhouse gases and to implement strategies to remove carbon emissions from aspects of its business , such as transportation and production.

Amazon has the goal from reduce to 50% net zero carbon shipments for 2030 .

Nevertheless, some experts are skeptical of the commitments . Since zero-emission promises require transparency and accurate calculations of the global costs of carbon removal, Mark Campanale, founder and CEO of the Carbon Tracker Initiative told CNN, a group that researches the impact of climate change on markets.
Together the companies that have signed generate more than 1.8 billion dollars in total annual revenue worldwide and have more than 7 million employees in 26 industries in 21 countries .
