Selena's husband and father no longer want to fight over her; They have put a “friendly” end to their conflicts in Texas

HOUSTON – Since the tragic death of the “Reyna de la Onda Tejana”, Selena Quintanilla, her husband, Chris Pérez and the artist’s family have starred in various conflicts.

Pérez and the Quintanilla family since Selena’s death in 1995 have been involved in discussions that took place they handled openly in the media. The most recent conflict, which began in 2012, after Pérez tried to create a television miniseries based on his memoir, “To Selena With Love” has apparently concluded an amicable agreement.

Pérez published on his Twitter account that he and the Quintanilla family managed to put an amicable end to their legal dispute after having been on opposite sides for many years.

Good news! I have amicably resolved my legal dispute with the Quintanilla family. Now that these issues are behind us, going forward, my hope, and the hope of the Quintanilla family, is for us to work together to continue to honor and celebrate the legacy of Selena.

Four years ago, Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, opposed Pérez’s miniseries and commented that the her daughter’s husband was not authorized.

Quintanilla sued Pérez and the two companies that were planning to turn the book into a television series.

The lawsuit filed by Quintanilla stated that at the time of Selena’s death in 1995, Pérez signed a deal giving up all rights related to Selena.

A Texas judge at 2017 ruled that Quintanilla’s lawsuit could proceed. Pérez’s lawyers wanted the lawsuit not to proceed based on freedom of expression.

Selena’s father also posted a message on his social networks about the issue.

“Now that these issues have been resolved and have been left behind, we will move on and it is my hope and the hope of the Quintanilla family that we can work together to continue honoring Selena’s legacy,” he published Quintanilla.

No details were provided on what both parties agreed to.

Pérez met Selena when she joined the band Los Dinos in 1990.

Selena’s father objected to the relationship, but Selena and Pérez were secretly married in 1992 when the singer was 20 years old.

Selena was shot to death in 1995 by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldívar, who is in prison serving a life sentence in prison. Saldívar will be eligible for parole at 2025.

In an interview Pérez said that upon learning of Selena’s death he suffered one of the worst moments of his life. Last year 25 years of the artist’s death were completed.
