Former San Diego cop found guilty on 16 counts of sexual assault

A former San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy will be sentenced in October after being found guilty Tuesday of 16 charges of rape and sexual abuse, including assaults on two minors .

Earle Daniel Yamamoto, from 41 years old, he is a former San Diego sheriff’s deputy and a former Army intelligence officer. He is currently detained at the Vista Detention Center and is isolated from the others deprived of liberty due to security measures .

Yamamoto was tried on 20 August for 16 charges, including rape, forced oral intercourse, forced sexual penetration, intercourse with a minor and various others . This Tuesday he was found guilty by the same court.

According to the district attorney, sexual offenses involving two minors occurred between 2012 and 2019. In September of that same year, Yamamoto left the Sheriff’s Department and a month later was arrested.

Yamamoto spent three and a half years with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department until his resignation and subsequent arrest that was not announced by authorities until this year.

Yamamoto will be sentenced on October 6 at the South County Courthouse in Chula Vista, as reported by NBC San Diego.
