After the victory of Mexican boxer Óscar Valdez was announced in the fight against Robson Conceicao there have been many criticisms of the judges’ decision, and certainly one of them confessed that there was a mistake .
The judge Stephen Blea affirmed this Monday in a letter, that after analyzing the fight for two days he determined that failed by placing the event score recorded Friday night in Arizona.
“I have watched the fight and thoroughly analyzed my performance. My score of 117 – 110 is not accurate and it doesn’t represent the actions in the ring, ”Blea said guiltily.
In the letter he also explained the result of his analysis: “there were some very close rounds during the fight and I made two mistakes: 1) not qualify 10 – 10 in 2 rounds , I felt that there was no clear winner, 2) I rated those rounds in favor of the champion giving him the benefit in the nearby actions ”.
He assured that he felt that he had disappointed the Federation, the NABF, the WBC, the sport and the fighters inside the ring, after realizing the failure.
“Influence of crowd noise: Friday night there was a noisy crowd that always supported Valdez. During the first rounds of fighting certain actions were developed in a specific corner in which he had a limit view ada and I couldn’t see some hits connected by Conseicao, of which there was no reaction from the crowd, ”said Blea.
Also emphasized that he had to deal with photographers and videographers who hindered his visual field, which also helped him not being able to see part of the actions.
Finally he said that: “I have decided to communicate with my NABF / WBC ring officials committee to undergo a full training and review program. I will not accept any championship fight assignments until I complete this process. ”
