Second warehouse with migrants in less than a week
The Municipal Police, the National Guard and the Civil Force found more than 300 undocumented in Cadereyta, a 30 kilometers from Monterrey, while They were investigating a case of a person who received migrants in his home and who later died in a local hospital. On that occasion, the people were in “subhuman conditions” , according to the INM.
“Since January 2021 have been identified to 31, 427 minors , accompanied and unaccompanied, who were transiting Mexican territory in irregular condition ”, details the statement .
That same day, the INM published a document in which they registered an increase in 194% in the number of accompanied and unaccompanied minors currently crossing Mexico. This massive flow is due to the change in the Migration Law in Mexico that establishes not to house minors or their companions , in immigration stations or temporary stays.
On the other hand, migrant caravans are also a recurring theme in the country Central American . Just this Sunday, Mexican authorities stopped the fourth caravan in a week in which Venezuelans, Guatemalans, Hondurans and Salvadorans were heading to the United States in search of a better life.
However, the police forces have been accused of making excessive use of force to disperse the undocumented . Even the United Nations (UN) asked President López Obrador that respects the human rights of the undocumented.
