More than 80% of California residents of immunization age have at least one dose of COVID vaccine – 19 , declared this Tuesday the Governor Gavin Newsom.
The president thanked Californians for their concern about receiving the vaccine given the growing number of cases of coronavirus infections , in particular due to the presence of the Delta variant of the SARS CoV-2 virus, which has a greater range of transmission.
“These safe and highly effective vaccines provide excellent protection against serious illness, hospitalization, and death, including from Delta and other known variants,” noted Newsom in statements released today by his office.
“With the 80% of eligible Californians who have received at least one dose, our work continues to close the gap for those who remain unvaccinated, ”he added.
Over 80% of California’s eligible population has received at least one dose of the # COVID 19 vaccine.
That ranks us # 9 in the country and # 1 among larger states.

In the data published this Tuesday by the California Department of Public Health, there were 9, 606 new positive cases for COVID – 19 and 16 disease-related deaths .
California is the ninth state with the highest rate of vaccinated population of eligible age, with the 80. 6% , ahead of Pennsylvania (80%), New York (78%), Florida (73. 1%) and Texas (68. 6%).
The states of New England , Hawaii and New Mexico are the states with the highest percentage of vaccinated residents, but with much smaller populations than California.
In the United States, residents with a minimum age of 16 years you can receive the COVID vaccine – 19.
